Creating a Canvas Montage |
Resources |
In artwork, a montage may comprise of several photographs combined to form a composite illustration, sometimes referred to as a collage. The images are not “stitched together” (as discussed in Easy Photo To Canvas Panorama Article) to produce a seamless join, but may be overlaid, blended or carefully positioned with surrounding borders.
At Achia Images we are always happy to create a canvas montage for you. Photographs can be mailed to us (use registered post) or you can email your digital files. If you plan on using a large number of images like the car montage on canvas below email us and ask for access to our web based file transfer site. This will allow you to upload multiple or large images easily. Donna (VIC) asked for these images to be put together on canvas for her father, a history of every vehicle he has owned. A birthday gift that, amazed her father. If this style of montage is what you are after we generally refer to this as a “contemporary canvas montage”. No blending just lots of cropping and jiggling to get everything just right. For those of you thinking of putting together your own montage, don't forget to adjust each individual image for contrast, brightness etc before you put it into the montage.
Jayne (QLD) produced this stunning montage herself, we take no credit for this one. The colour combinations are fantastic and the combined image is more than visual there is such a great sense of “the outback”.
We are always happy to see Jayne's images. We hope this inspires you to get creative and find new ways to present multiple images on canvas. Stretched canvas prints are excellent for creating a canvas montage as we can custom size the frame. However we have recently created some absolutely stunning collages on canvas in Acrylic Ice. |
